We are hiring a… Bench Joiner and Installer! (UPDATE: POSITION FILLED)
Bench Joiner and Site Installer
What would you be doing?
When a customer makes an enquiry, a design is produced using our CAD package, SolidWorks. Once the customer is happy, the furniture is manufactured in the workshop – all pieces are bespoke and spray finished before installing in the customer’s home. Typical day-to-day activities will include:
· Manufacturing furniture in the workshop using hand tools, power tools and machinery including the spray booth (training will be given)
· Test assembling furniture and packing for delivery
· Prepping and spray finishing of furniture
· Installation of furniture on site
· Assisting with the development of workshop processes
· Keeping the workshop tidy and clean
· Keeping customer records updated on Trello, our Customer Relationship Management system
What type of person are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will:
· Be a graduate from any degree discipline, but graduates from design and manufacturing backgrounds would be particularly encouraged to apply
· Have hands-on experience with woodwork, cabinetry, or furniture using hand and power tools (this does not need to be work experience, it could be from your course or a hobby)
· Have excellent attention to detail
· Be a confident communicator and able to liaise with customers face to face and over the phone
· Be motivated and enthusiastic to learn and progress
· Be a problem solver
· Be able to lift and carry, sometimes heavy, materials and construct furniture both in the workshop and customers’ homes
· Be flexible to work additional hours at evenings or weekends during very busy periods
The following would be a bonus, but don’t be put off if not:
· Experience or knowledge of using 3D design tools such as SolidWorks / Solid Edge or similar
· A degree in furniture design or similar
· Joinery apprenticeship qualification
· Have a full clean UK driving licence, or willing to learn to drive, as the role requires work on customers’ sites
