Bookkeeper and Administrator - Part Time

 

What’s the business all about?

Up North Cabinet Makers design, manufacture and install kitchens and fitted furniture for a domestic market in South Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. Everything we make is to a high standard with an importance placed on sustainability at every stage of the business. Projects can include kitchens, wardrobes, bookshelves, alcove cabinets, entertainment units, studies, free-standing furniture and more. We cater to a broad range of budgets, styles, and tastes. Everything is designed and made from our workshop in Sheffield, where we have a range of tools and equipment. There is a dedicated spray booth where everything is spray finished using water-based finishes to an exceptional standard.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join our small but growing business and play a key role in its progression, while developing your own skills and expertise along the way. You will be part of a small team and work directly with, and learn from, the owner of the business. We are looking for a graduate with a passion for finance and organisation in a small business.

 

What would you be doing?

When a customer makes an enquiry, a design is produced using our CAD package SolidWorks. Once the customer is happy, the furniture is manufactured in the workshop – all pieces are bespoke and spray finished before installing in the customer’s home. Your typical day-to-day activities would include:

 

·         Running payroll

·         Sending Invoices to customers

·         Logging company mileage

·         Reconciling accounts

·         Updating banking transactions and receipts

·         Paying bills

·         Submitting quarterly VAT return

·         Submitting CIS

·         Submitting payroll tax

·         Dealing with HMRC

·         General maintenance and data input of Accountancy software – QuickBooks Online

·         Cash flow forecasting

·         Budgeting

·         Reporting on company finances

·         Paying suppliers

·         Other general HR and administrative tasks where needed

·         Assisting with the development of business processes

·         Keeping customer records updated on Trello, our Customer Relationship Management system

 

What type of person are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will:

 

·         Be a graduate from any degree discipline, but graduates from finance and administrative backgrounds would be particularly encouraged to apply

·         Have bookkeeping experience – 1 year (preferred)

·         Have excellent attention to detail

·         Be a confident communicator and able to liaise with customers face to face and over the phone

·         Be motivated and enthusiastic to learn and progress

 

The following would be a bonus, but don’t be put off if not:

 

·         A degree in finance or similar

·         Understanding of QuickBooks

 

What are all the practical details?

·         Starting salary: £10-£15 per hour (dependent on experience)

·         Contract type: Part time 1-3 days a fortnight. Days can be flexible.

·         Location: Unit 5, Unity Works, 329 Petre Street, Sheffield, S4 8LJ

·         Remote working possible.

·         COVID-19 Start details: You will be required to work in the workshop and in customers’ homes (following up to date government COVID-19 guidelines).

·         Transport and parking: Free parking is available. The office is serviced by bus routes and is a 5-minute walk from the nearest bus stop. There are cycle storage and shower facilities.

·         Start date: Immediate
